SHRN Insights for Healthier Learning and Well-Being
At the School Health Research Network (SHRN), we are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of children and young people across Wales. Established as a collaborative effort between schools, academic researchers, and health policymakers, SHRN focuses on generating high-quality evidence to inform health and well-being improvement strategies in educational settings.
Our reports deliver valuable insights gathered from extensive surveys conducted in primary and secondary schools. These surveys focus on essential health and well-being metrics, providing the data needed to make informed decisions. By leveraging this information, we aim to foster healthier environments that support the well-being and success of all learners. By engaging with 100% of secondary schools, and more than 50% of primary schools in Wales SHRN not only benchmarks data but also supports the implementation of effective health and well-being interventions throughout learners’ educational journeys.

SHRN National Reports
SHRN publishes national reports that provide an overview of the health and wellbeing of children and young people across Wales. These reports draw on data from The Student Health and Wellbeing Survey and highlight key trends in areas such as mental health, physical activity, substance use, and social relationships. The reports are designed to inform policy, practice, and research, offering evidence to support improvements in education and public health. All findings are anonymised and presented at a national level to protect confidentiality.
